How to Get to Gili Meno by Fast Boat (Direct from Bali)

Gili Meno is the smallest and quietest of the three Gili Islands — no nightlife, no traffic, just white sand, turtles and the underwater statues. Getting there is easier than most people think: several fast boats stop at Gili Meno directly from Bali, so you don't need to go via Gili Trawangan or Lombok. Here's exactly how it works.

Is there a ferry from Padang Bai to Gili Meno?

Not a public one. The slow car ferry from Padang Bai goes to Lembar in south-west Lombok, a long way from the Gilis — from there you'd still need a two-hour drive to Bangsal and a local boat across. In practice, the fast boat is the ferry to Gili Meno: it leaves from the same harbour at Padang Bai and takes you straight to the island in about two hours. (If you're weighing the public ferry for Lombok itself, see Bali to Lombok: fast boat or ferry?.)

Direct fast boats from Bali

  • From Padang Bai — the main route. Boats leave from about 9:00 am to early afternoon and take roughly 1¾–2½ hours. Compare them on Padang Bai → Gili Meno.
  • From Sanur — a morning and a midday departure. The boat calls at other islands on the way, so allow 3–4¾ hours. See Sanur → Gili Meno.
  • From Nusa Dua — an early-morning departure from the far south, handy for airport-area resorts. See Nusa Dua → Gili Meno.

Island-hopping from Nusa Penida or Lembongan

Already on the Nusas? Some boats run straight to Gili Meno from Nusa Penida and Nusa Lembongan, so you can hop from one island group to the other without going back to Bali. See Nusa Penida → Gili Meno and Nusa Lembongan → Gili Meno, or plan the whole loop with our Bali island-hopping itinerary.

Check your boat actually stops at Meno

Because Meno is the smallest Gili, not every Gili boat calls there — many only stop at Gili Trawangan and Gili Air. Book a boat that lists Gili Meno as its destination (every boat on our Bali → Gili Meno page does), and you'll be dropped on Meno's beach. Expect to step off into shallow water, so keep sandals handy.

If your boat only goes to Gili Trawangan or Gili Air, you can cross to Meno on a local island-hopping boat — short and cheap, bought on the spot at the harbour (we don't sell those).

What does it cost?

Direct fares from Padang Bai start from around Rp 500,000 per adult each way, with Sanur departures a little higher and the Nusa Dua service higher again because it saves the drive east. Prices vary by operator and date, so we show the live from-price for every boat on the Bali → Gili Meno page. For what's included in a fare, see what a fast-boat ticket really costs.

Getting back from Gili Meno

Boats from Gili Meno back to Bali leave from about 9:15 am, with the last ones to Padang Bai around 4:00 pm, plus morning and midday boats to Sanur. See Gili Meno → Padang Bai, and read how to get back from the Gilis to Bali before you book a flight home.

Is Gili Meno right for you?

Meno is perfect for couples, snorkellers and anyone who wants to switch off — it's walkable in under an hour and very quiet after dark. Want bars and more choice? Gili Trawangan is the lively one, Gili Air the in-between. Our guide which Gili island should you visit? compares all three, and the Gili Meno destination guide covers what to do once you're there.
